The Yo-Yo
Things have been good. Really good. When I look at my weight loss progress and compare it to other people’s weight loss progress, I’ve done really well. I don’t mean to be arrogant, but the fact remains that I’ve read numerous people’s weight loss troubles and have been extremely blessed in that I’ve consistently lost weight week-to-week. I didn’t have to...

Remember This Friends:
Hello friends, remember this. You cannot ride away from the rain. It will attack you every time. It has rained almost everyday last week, which really put a damper on my riding. So Saturday I pull out the old weather.com guide, it says 15% chance of rain. So I’m good to go. Ten minutes out, it starts sprinkling. I look at the sky to change direction to try to ride away from the rain, well...

Two Rides for the 4th
YEAH! I got in 2 rides this weekend (long weekend for me). The first one was after 1.5 weeks off the bike due to rain and other things. It was bad. I was huffing and puffing and hurting and feeling like throwing up and trying to eat something and failing…but still got in a decent amount of miles. Just a few miles became really really slow. Had a hard time riding above 10mph for a stretch,...

Little Victory: New Belt
I said a while ago I would post my “Little Victories” to the site and then you guys sat there patiently waiting for them…only to be disappointed. Not anymore! Little Victories, defined as situations in my weight loss journey where things happen that aren’t overwhelmingly awesome, but can give you just enough boost to keep going for a while. I’ve talked to people...

Tour Talk: RadioShack
Just moments ago Johan Bruyneel announced on their website the team for the 2010 Tour de France. I totally called this team! I was going to post my predictions today but found out this morning when I got on the computer that Team RadioShack was listing their team this morning….so I can’t prove my calls were predicted correctly…but you trust me right!?!? Here were my...

More Tour Talk
Again, since the Tour de France is coming up, I am talking more about it rather than my weight loss progress….well, because it’s the Tour. I talked last time about my predictions for Team Garmin-Transitions and this time I’ll talk about one of the other US teams in the Tour this year, HTC-Columbia. Velonews released their Tour edition and talked about each team and their...

My Garmin-Transitions Picks
So the Tour de France is looming and Garmin is running a Facebook promotion that you could win a Felt F1 Team edition bike, a set of Mavic Cosmic Wheels, or a team edition Garmin Edge 500.  The US team picks are interesting to me so I decided to publish my picks here so you can see what I think. (By the way, with Le Tour nearing you’ll see me publish more on the race as this is a cycling and...

Hot Cal: Nice Weight Loss Tool →
Cool Tools for School (that sucked) So I’ve a huge advocate of knowing what you eat. I’ve said many times before that the best part about Weight Watchers was the fact that I have to pay attention to everything I eat. It’s not necessarily the points system, but just knowing what I put into my stomach and seeing it’s impact makes a huge difference. But I also know that...

Upped the Ante My friend and I decided to upgrade our ride. This has been boiling in us for a number of weeks, but due to scheduling we stayed with our slower/shorter ride. But this weekend we decided to take the plunge or up the ante so to speak. It was a 45.5 mile ride (as you can see, Hit the Watch if you are in the Dashboard) and pushed me pretty hard. I did really well the first 30 miles....

Weekend Binge...again.
I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but this holiday weekend I binged a bit again. Saturday I really wanted a hamburger, which wouldn’t have been bad if it wasn’t for the great On The Border meal that happened later. Sunday I took my beautiful and beloved wife out on a complete day to ourselves. We dropped the baby off at his grands, and took to the streets. After a...

Operation: Back on the Bike (Complete) Mission Status: Success Debriefing: So I got it. I got the Orbea Onix TRV. It feels awesome. Got fitted to the bike and could feel the difference immediately. Flipped the stem to a positive angle, helped me sit up higher and adjustments to the seat stopped it from feeling like I was reaching far out to grab the handlebar. Looks pretty slick right? Two...

Operation: Back on the Bike
Alright, so It’s come down to this. I need to get back on the bicycle to keep my fitness and weight loss goals in order. What that means is I need a new bike. I’ve been trolling Craigslist and RoadBikeReview in hopes of finding something that will work, but have had little luck. As luck would have it, I’m tall (6’4”) and that means I need a large bike which also...

Weigh in
So it’s weigh day and here’s the skinny: Weight: 231 lbs Change from Last Week: -1 lb Total Weight Lost: 39 lbs So 39 lbs is good, but I’m really wanting that 230 mark…really bad. Also, I’m guessing it’s going to be really hard to hit that point next week as well. Why, you ask? Well ever since my bike was stolen, it’s taken all my self-control I...

Sad Day
Well…it’s was good while it lasted… To understand my situation, my bike was stolen the other day from my garage. Yup. Some jerkoff decided that they couldn’t live without that and my tools and weedeater so taking it from me was their reason for living. We left our garage door open for a few minutes while gathering things up and before we knew it the stuff was gone. So now...

Gear Up (Part 1): Water Bottles
I’ve decided to help out you, my faithful followers, with some information I’ve gained through experience. And it has to do with cycling gear. I’ll try to relate to you some of the lessons I’ve learned about the casual rider’s cycling gear. Hope it helps. Part one is on one of the cheapest but greatest items I’ve ever purchased. The best gear to invest in is...

It's Tumblr Tuesday, I'm Sick!!
So, here’s an update on my situation. First it’s Tumblr Tuesday, if you like please vote for me here: http://www.tumblr.com/directory/recommend/health%20fitness/breakingthebike No that that is out of the way. It appears my pancreas is out of whack. Do you know what the pancreas does? I didn’t. It supplies the juices that beat your food into submission in your small intestines...

Terribly Sad Day Today
Today is a terribly sad day. I was supposed to ride the Muenster Germanfest Bike Rally today, but due to me getting sick I cannot ride it. Well, let’s say I should not ride it. I could still get on the bike, but if I did ride I’d probably be home from work for a week still sick. And since my job pays for my cycling habit, I felt it better to remain home. This just means I have to find...

Lijit lets me see stats from people’s searches and whatnot…but… Someone searched my site for “boulet”. Can anyone tell me what that means and why my site would trigger someone to search this?

I really didn’t want to ride this ride. My normal ride with friends was cancelled because of the threat of rain. I know, weenies. So I had to go out on my own. I was really bummed and tired but I forced myself to ride. I started from my favorite corner parking lot and just headed north. Not bad roads, and it took me a while to feel decent about the ride. Then it happened. At the corner of a...

Nice Walk
Had a nice walk with my beloved wife, the dogs and my wicked awesome son. Not long, not far, but nice. Weather was perfect. Good times. Looks like I’ll be riding in the rain tomorrow, I’ll let you know how it goes! hehe

The One Where Mark Does All The Work
So I had a nice ride this evening with my friend, Mark. He wanted to ensure that we had an average speed higher than 17mph, so set out at a blistering pace. What happened was that he moved up front and I rode behind him almost the whole time. I tried to pull when I felt like I could keep the fast pace up but that was probably only 10% of the time. So I followed Mark most of the way. But it...

Great Ride, Great Legs
I had a great ride today. 37.7 miles and a really good pace, about 1 mph faster than normal. I felt really good, dropped a little around 2 hours in but was able get my legs back and rejoin. Then we hit this small ~1 mile loop, where most everyone took a single lap, but myself and 3 others went around a second. The weather was awesome and just a little wind. I pushed it hard in 3 areas and was...

Weigh Day
Weigh Day was Wednesday, but I didn’t get a chance to post my progress. Another 1.4 lbs lost, puts me at 241.4lbs. That’s good, huh? My weight loss rate has reduced, which isn’t a bad thing but I was really hoping to him my 230lbs point by May. I have no real reason why, just really wanted to hit that point at that time. We will see what happens. But awesome for me! Yeah!

Paying Attention
So I’ve done well in my weight loss. I can actually admit that. I still hope for more and I will try to do better. I rarely give advice on this blog because I feel like who am I to give these people help…a nobody right? Well that’s true, I am a nobody, but people seem to care what I say. So advice, here’s my first. Pay Attention. To what? To what you eat. Sounds logical?...
