photo Weight Report
So news is in and it’s a positive…no not positive poundage, but a good report. Here’s the quick stats:

Weight: 223.8 lbs (101.5 kg)

Loss Since Last Week: 1.2 lbs (0.544 kg)

Total Weight Loss: 46.2 lbs (21 kg)

So it’s good news. It’s leveling off a little bit and I think it’s for a couple reasons. So I’ll work to break through those issues.

Weight Watchers Points Values have reduced. So to keep loosing weight WW reduces your points as you loose weight, so you keep losing weight. What I’ve found was early on it was really easy to stay within my points values. I could often not you any of my weekly points and feel satisfied everyday. Now as my points values have reduced, it’s harder to keep it under and I find myself diving into my weekly points sooner. Does this mean I’ll stop loosing weight? No. But it can explain the slower loss.
Plateaus. It seems to be that ever ~20lbs or so I hit a slow down. At 240 it slowed down so now I’ve hit a slow down as well. Just gives me something to break through.

I’ve got a few more posts for you coming up just need time to work though them. I’ll get them posted as soon as I get them. Another gear post, I’m riding tonight, and something more on little victories.

So I’m glad to see that I was able to burn off enough of the additional calories I ingested over the weekend. So I did loose some weight. Here’s the stats:
Weight: 225.0 lbs (102 kg)Weight Loss since Last Week: 1.8 lbs (.81 kg)Total weight Lost: 45 lbs (20.4 kg)Weight Until Next Goal: 9 lbs (4.1 kg)
So there you have it. I’m kind of getting a bit excited about where I’m going. At 220 lbs, I will be under 100 kg…that’s a great thing to think about.
One key that I’ve been using to keep me motivated to loose is simple and achievable goals as well as simple things to get excited about. When you are eating healthy, it’s exciting to eat a big delicious but not exactly healthy meal. Things also like this 100 kg marker. That’s something most people wouldn’t think about but saying that I am 5 lbs from weighing under 100 kg is nice and motivating. That point, 220 lbs, is also a big deal because it means 50 lbs total loss. Little things, these are the things to get excited about and keep you going.
What motivates you?

Weigh in

So it’s weigh day and here’s the skinny:

Weight: 231 lbs
Change from Last Week: -1 lb
Total Weight Lost: 39 lbs

So 39 lbs is good, but I’m really wanting that 230 mark…really bad.

Also, I’m guessing it’s going to be really hard to hit that point next week as well. Why, you ask? Well ever since my bike was stolen, it’s taken all my self-control I have to keep from eating. I just want to eat…and eat. But I haven’t this far, but I really want to. Really!

Hopefully I can either find my bike or work up the financial means to get another…we’ll see.

photo Weight Day. So here’s the results compared to last week.

Weight: 232 lbs (105.2 kg)Change since last week: -2.5 lbs (1.13 kg)Change since start: -38 lbs (17.2 kg)

I was hoping to hit 230 lbs by this weigh in (it would have been 40 lbs lost in 4 months…which mathematically would have been awesome), but 2.5 lbs this week is really good. I’m averaging ~2 lbs a week which is right on the healthy track.
On a side note, work has put me on overtime so I’ve had little to no time to ride. It even more-so pushes me to start commuting to work on my bike, but I need a bike to commute on. It may be time for some craigslisting.

photo Weigh Day!
Do de do, do de do, dodledee do. Check it out, a few tenths loss. And that’s amazing after the crazy weekend. This few tenths though did one thing, put me past the 10% loss line. So here’s a few facts about loosing 10% of your weight (if you are overweight).
Heart Disease
With less weight comes lower blood pressure and cholesterol. This reduces your chances of heart disease.
Type 2 Diabetes
Less weight reduces your risk of Type 2 Diabetes. So I won’t have to replace Wilford Brimley when I’m older talking about how a company helps me with my diabeetus medication.
Vigor and Vitality
I haven’t quite felt this yet, but I’m pretty sure something else is sucking it out of me…but that’s another story.
Motivation
Success breeds more success, so losing 10% can motivate you to keep loosing more.
Thanks for your support peeps. See you next time.

photo What the hell is wrong with me… I forgot to post my weigh in yesterday. Shame on me. Bad Newt.
Alright so here it is. 25lbs. That’s more than my son weighs right now. I’ve dropped a baby. Not literally, the equivalent weight. I’m teetering on the 10% line as well.
Thank you guys for your support. You guys rock!

Milestone Number 2

This morning something surprising happened. I’ve lost a nice many poundages lately and have been happy to see the scale go down. But there has always been the other thing that has been looming, and it’s harder to see results from.

Today I looked in the mirror and actually was surprised that my gut seemed smaller. Today at work I’m wearing one of those shirts that I’ve often felt a bit self-conscious about when I had to lug my gut beneath it. But not today.

So call this milestone number 2: visual results as judged by my most critical jury…me. Good stuff.

EDIT: Wife pointed out I typed “guy” instead of “gut” in the second paragraph. No, No, my “guy” is perfectly fine. *face-palm*

So Sunday was Weigh Day. And looks like I lost a few pounds, 253.0lbs. It was probably due to my bronchial infection…but still weight loss. This one is important because it means I passed the 5% mark. (I was close last week, but one was the breaker.)
How are you doing?

photo I want to ride my bicycle. Winter is still hitting hard here in Dallas, yet my desire to get out on the bike is heavier than ever. Heavy. On that note, I’ve lost a few more pounds. 256.8 is my new weight. That’s a little over 13 lbs lost in about 3 weeks. Not bad, but I can’t weight until I can get on the bike and reap the benefits.
It may still be a little premature to get on the bike for long distances with my knee still recovering from surgery. It’s not bad, but can become seriously sore at the end of the day. So we’ll see how it heals and if I can get on for a decent amount of time.
So if you see a fat guy trolling around Dallas with a look of horrible pain on his face, tell him to go home and let his knee heal.
Thanks for the flood of followers lately, you are greatly appreciated. The more people that support me in my fight to drop this weight, the better and more energized I feel.

WW: Week 1

So, last week I was finally able to turn my leg all the way around on the bike. A full revolution felt really good to accomplish and my knee is on its way to a full recovery. That being said, since I cannot ride (and burn calories that way) Weight Watchers has been coaching me through loosing a few pounds.

After a week on the plan I lost 7.5 pounds. Some people may think that’s huge, but this isn’t the first diet where I danced between 260 to 270. So sitting at 262.5 pounds (119 kg) is a good start but we will see how things move forward. I’ll be pleased when I break the 258 mark and will feel like I’m actually loosing weight.

As for the bike, I think I’ll hook up the trainer this week and see if I can put in 20-30 minutes without killing my knee. It will be good to get back in the saddle and put in some miles.

Also, I’m looking into commuter bikes. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m looking at bikes with fenders and a trunk rack. Because it’s probably urine…
