The Highs and Lows of Today…

I did it. I hit my first milestone in my memorably weight loss saga. 250 lbs. Yeah, that’s 270 lbs to 250 lbs…122.5kg to 113.4kg for my SI friends (why doesn’t America use this? Come on!) 20 lbs and I’m on a roll. It was pretty awesome to have this since my weekend was full of food and fun. With pizza and a trip to La Hacienda Ranch (which by the way, the owner is the creator of the Frozen Margarita…which is now housed in the Smithsonian!), I knew my scale was going to be cursing me as I stood upon it. But that was not to happen.  So it’s back on the horse…the aluminium horse, but that was not to be either. Sad when the rain kept coming down and I was no able to take to the streets. Why not you might ask? Well it gets pretty hairy out here with the drivers that don’t like cyclists and accidents can happen so much more easily in the wet weather. So if I ever go out in the rain, I need a buddy to ride with in order to be much more visible and safer. Yet, I couldn’t find a buddy today… it’s a lonely existence, being the lone rain rider.  Never fear though, I’ll try to pick up a ride mid-week and then hopefully start the Saturday morning ritual this weekend.

Thanks for all my new and old followers, I really appreciate you riding through this with me. Have a beer for me today, and pat yourselves on the back in your achievements as well as mine. You guys are awesome. Also, if you have a question don’t forget to ask.

photo Dear Tumblrians,
I’m sending up a plea for help. Look what happened. Yes, that is weight gain. And it’s really zapped my attitude. Don’t get me wrong, I knew some flux was bound to happen…but I didn’t expect it so soon. I really thought I’d be able to hit my first goal of 250lbs (113.4kg) without having to fight the roller coaster. It also couldn’t have happened at a worse time. I was finally able to get out on the bike for the first time since my surgery, and I didn’t lose any weight…I gained.
So I’m feeling a bit down. And knowing that all of us who blog about our weight challenge use the blog as a support mechanism, I’m asking for some of that support. I can do this…just not feeling much desire right now.
If you’ve gone through the same thing and fought through it let me know. Can you help me out?

photo Weigh Day
So Sunday was Weigh Day. And looks like I lost a few pounds, 253.0lbs. It was probably due to my bronchial infection…but still weight loss. This one is important because it means I passed the 5% mark. (I was close last week, but one was the breaker.)
How are you doing?

photo Figured it’s time to update the viewing public how I’m doing in the heftiness area. So here’s my graph from Weight Watchers. That’s 3 weeks people, and yes that’s 13lbs…evaporated.
The best thing about this is that it’s done with little to no activity. Why, you ask? Because because I had knee surgery recently and it’s precluded me from doing too much. I’m getting close to getting back on the bike and hope to push some of the poundage out quickly. Also, as you can see the weight goal is set at 250lbs. This isn’t the long term goal, WW asks that you set small realizable goals in order to keep you motivated. So 250lbs is my first hit, then it will get lower and lower. Overall I hope to magically expel the fat to get me down to around 200lbs. It would be wicked awesome to drop below 200lbs…not sure if I can due to muscle mass but I haven’t been below 200lbs since before TLC didn’t want anything to do with Scrubs. Which is sad, because I love that show…

WW: Week 1

So, last week I was finally able to turn my leg all the way around on the bike. A full revolution felt really good to accomplish and my knee is on its way to a full recovery. That being said, since I cannot ride (and burn calories that way) Weight Watchers has been coaching me through loosing a few pounds.

After a week on the plan I lost 7.5 pounds. Some people may think that’s huge, but this isn’t the first diet where I danced between 260 to 270. So sitting at 262.5 pounds (119 kg) is a good start but we will see how things move forward. I’ll be pleased when I break the 258 mark and will feel like I’m actually loosing weight.

As for the bike, I think I’ll hook up the trainer this week and see if I can put in 20-30 minutes without killing my knee. It will be good to get back in the saddle and put in some miles.

Also, I’m looking into commuter bikes. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m looking at bikes with fenders and a trunk rack. Because it’s probably urine…

link Being Fat Causes Global Warming, Scientists Say

So scientists are saying that I am a drain on the environment. Now I’m no environmentalist (per se) and I don’t believe that, if global warming exists, humans are the cause of it and therefore cannot correct it either. But I do believe we should be careful how we use the earths resources? Most definately yes. So, I’ll do my part to reduce my consumption! Let’s get it on! Let’s all loose weight for the Erf! Shawty! Word…
